Supplies

  • Downloadable Door Pattern
  • Elmer’s® Disappearing Purple School Glue Stick (or any other Elmer's glue)
  • Color Paper
  • Magazines
  • Scissors
  • Markers

Instructions

Download the Door Pattern, then paste it onto a piece of color paper.

Write a letter (e.g., the first letter of the child's name) on each door pattern. Depending on the age of the children, you might want to use the same letters for everyone or different letters.

Lead each child in saying their letter name and sound; then have them cut pictures from a magazine that begin with that letter sound.

Have each child unfold their paper and use Elmer's Disappearing Purple School Glue Stick to attach the pictures “inside” the door.

Have each child share their door’s letter, its sound, and each picture word.
