- Talk with students about the importance of making healthy food choices. Discuss the different food groups—grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meat and beans, oils. Give students a food item, such as potato chips, and ask students to identify it as a healthy or an unhealthy food choice. If the food item is unhealthy, ask students to suggest a better choice.
- Have students identify the colors of different foods. Give students a color, such as red, and have students name as many foods as they can think of that are that color. Then, ask students to identify the shapes of different foods.
