- Cover a small section of the picture with Elmer's Washable School Glue™. Place pieces of pasta, peas, or beans onto the glue. Hold for a few seconds until the glue sticks.
- Continue to fill in the picture with pasta, peas, and beans until it is complete. Let the glue dry completely.
- Decorate your picture with Elmer's Paintastics™ paint colors. Let the paint dry completely.
- Display your pasta artwork for others to see!
- Have students sort the pasta, peas, beans, and lentils. Encourage students to use the items as counters for simple math problems. Ask students to place the items into groups of 2, 5, and 10. Use the groups to help teach students counting by twos, fives, and tens.
- Ask students to write captions to describe their pasta craft project. The caption should describe what is happening in the picture in one or two sentences. Encourage students to use descriptive words in their writing.
- Talk about the different categories of food, as specified by the food pyramid. Ask students which category pasta falls into. Which category are beans and lentils?
