Ice-Cream Cone Decoration

Make a cool treat that won't melt

Draw an ice-cream cone on a sheet of white paper with a pencil.
Tape the paper to a flat surface so that it doesn't move when you trace over it.
Lay a piece of wax paper over the drawing. Tape the wax paper to the flat surface so that it doesn't move.
Trace over the drawing using Elmer's 3D Washable Paint Pens™. Color in the spaces with paint. Let the paint dry completely.
Glue a pair of Jiggly Eyes to the ice-cream cone. Let the glue dry completely.
Draw a mouth, nose, and eyebrows on the ice-cream cone with a black marker.
Take the tape off of the wax paper. Hang up your ice cream cone decoration!

Teaching Tips:

Have students write new lyrics to the song "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" For example, "I eat, you eat, we all eat a frozen treat!" Post students' lyrics with their ice-cream cone decorations around the classroom.
Ask students to invent their own ice cream flavors. Encourage them to be as creative as possible with the flavor combinations. Give each student a recipe card, and have students write down the ingredients for their new creations.
Discuss that ice cream is a special treat. Eating ice cream is okay in moderation, but it shouldn't be eaten every day. Have students brainstorm a list of healthy snacks and a list of snacks, like ice cream, that should be eaten only once in a while.
