Instructions
- Cut a strip of foam that is 1" wide by 5" long. Wrap the foam around your wrist. Make sure that it is big enough to fit over your hand when it's time to take the bracelet off.
- Tape the ends of the bracelet together with masking tape. Remove the bracelet.
- Cut out flowers, hearts, and other shapes from foam. Glue the shapes to the bracelet. Let the glue dry completely.
- Decorate the bracelet using Elmer's 3D Washable Paint Pens™. Let the paint dry completely.
- Add gemstones and jewel stickers to the bracelet. Wear it for everyone to see!
- Have students research the different kinds of gemstones that exist. Discuss how most gemstones are precious or semi-precious minerals that have been cut and polished until they shine. Encourage each student to find out their birthstone, or birthday gemstone, and write a short paragraph about it.
- Encourage students to do all of the measuring for this activity. First, have students measure their wrists and bracelets in inches. Then, have students measure their wrists and bracelets in centimeters. Ask students to compare the measurements. Have students figure out the correct measurements for making a foam necklace, anklet, or ring.
- Ask students to write their names on their foam jewelry using Elmer's 3D Washable Paint Pens™. Encourage them to write other descriptive words about themselves, too.
