Money Savers

End of Year Extra Supplies
At the end of the year, students have extra supplies. Ask students if they would like to donate (strictly voluntarily) any supplies they feel students could use next year. Students give willingly and they feel good about donating to next year’s students. During the year, if a student loses a red crayon or another supply, you'll have supplies ready for them.

Sock Eraser for Dry Erase Boards
Instead of using paper towels as erasers for dry erase boards and then throwing them away, ask parents to send in single socks that somehow survived the dryer when its mate did not. Use these socks as erasers, and take them home from time to time to launder them.

Tennis Ball Buffers
Another idea to cut down on classroom noise involves used tennis balls. Carefully cut an X into the bottom of used tennis balls and place them on the bottom of chair and desk legs. This way, you’ll drastically cut down on the noise created from moving chairs and desks. You can get used tennis balls from racquet clubs or high school tennis teams or P.E. classes.
