Instructions

  1. Place each Foam Board horizontally, one above the other, on worktable or floor. (Wait to connect Foam Boards with tape until finished decorating, since it's easier to reach the middle Foam Board when drawing.) Use chalk to decorate with names, words, doodles and spontaneous drawings and have friends add to it when they visit, OR plan the designs as follows.
  2. To plan designs, lightly sketch with pencil, purposely letting images run onto adjacent Foam Boards. (This helps disguise the lines created by the separate Foam Boards.) Use various colors of chalk to go over pencil lines, filling in some areas and leaving other areas black. Chalk smears easily so work from top, of top board, down û without getting your palm or arm into the chalked areas. If you "goof" and want to change a color, try going over it with another color. To return an area to black or to make black lines inside a chalked-in area, use permanent black marker. If an area smears, use a soft tissue to carefully wipe away.  (Note: An eraser will remove chalk, but because it may leave the black a lighter color, you may want to reapply another color chalk to disguise the lighter black.
  3. When drawings are finished, in a well-ventilate area, test spraying with matte sealer to minimize smearing: Lightly spray a bottom corner of the bottom Foam Board. (Note: When sprayed, chalk seems to disappear but as it dries, it reappears.) If test works and image in corner appears fine, lightly spray all three Foam Boards. Let dry. (Note: Additional drawing may be done after spraying. Simply spray those areas when finished.)
  4. To connect Foam Boards to each other, use a couple of layers of transparent or masking tape on the backs of the boards, pressing the board edges as tightly together as possible.
  5. To hang on door, use picture-hanging strips according to manufacturer's instructions.
